Mass Effect 2 the game I’m most hyped about this month and judging by everything I have seen so far its living up to it. BioWare have always been one of my favorite RPG makers, while I can’t say I did look forward to the first Mass Effect as much as I do with this one, in fact I was rather disappointed with the first game. Everything looks so much better in this game though and they seem to have learned from there mistakes and put down alot of work into really making this something else.
The list of voice actors is huge, with over 90 people on it and lots of Hollywood actors that would make most big movies full of envy. If you’re a fan of Sci-Fi you won’t be a stranger to most of the names on list, with people like Michael Dorn (Star Trek), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Trilogy), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Keith David (Chronicles of Riddick) to name a few. I was going to pick a more action filled trailer at first, but I wanted to show you all the voice actors instead.

Two years after Commander Shepard repelled invading Reapers bent on the destruction of organic life, a mysterious new enemy has emerged. On the fringes of known space, something is silently abducting entire human colonies. Now Shepard must work with Cerberus, a ruthless organisation devoted to human survival at any cost, to stop the most terrifying threat mankind has ever faced. To even attempt this perilous mission, Shepard must assemble the galaxy's most elite team and command the most powerful ship ever built. Even then, they say it would be suicide. Commander Shepard intends to prove them wrong.
While some people have raised their concern about how good of a work they will really do or if it’s just to get "famous" people on the cast. I’m not concerned at all, with Dragon Age: Origins, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as well as the Baldur's Gate & Neverwinter Nights-series behind them. I’m confident in BioWare and I know they will make the right decision.
I’m more then sure Mass Effect 2 and Bayonetta will both be contenders for alot of "game of the year" awards, not a bad start on 2010 for us gamers.
MAG the PlayStation 3 game I would love to have on my PC. Coming from the battlefield-series the 256 players sounds like a dream come true. I had some great moments in Battlefield when playing on the 64 players servers; the intense non-stop action was great fun (if somewhat spammy). Having a game with four times as many players is just insane. I just have to try it out and play it someday.
Graphically up close it doesn’t look much to the world in comparison with games like Modern Warfare 2 and the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2, on the other hand those games don’t have to deal with 256 players at once. Graphics never was that important in the long run anyway, people are still playing Counter-Strike after all?

It’s the year 2025 and nations are at peace. But under the surface, a war rages. This Shadow War is the secret conflict fought between Private Military Corporations (PMCs) vying for dominance across a global battlefield. Fight in unprecedented battles with up to 256 combatants. Excel as an elite operative or become a leader of men. Be the one that makes the difference. Your calling awaits.
The only thing that bothers me with this game is, as a PC player I would have to play it on a gamepad. For me FPS games should be played with mouse and keyboard, playing on a PS3/XBOX360 controller feels like taking one step back.
I can’t even remember how many times I have seen a Halo 3 match over at MLG without thinking, I could easy pick out a squad of outstanding team players and aimers, give them 1-2 months of intensive practice to learn the maps, aim and movement. Send them to some MLG Grand Final and win it with ease. While I have no doubt about the skill of the top player, they just can’t compare to the precise aim and movement of the mouse and keyboard.
But maybe I should look at this game for casual and fun public play, can’t see many clans putting up 32 players for a clan match so often, as the game is intended to be played at its least.
I also can’t help but wonder, how many bullets on average gets fired per game?
Other big games this month I was going to take a look at was the action adventure Dark Void and arcade fighting game Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. But they didn’t quite make it onto my list.
Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars looks freaking sweet and if you love fighting games like Marvel Vs Capcom you should go out and buy it, dust of your Wii that is collecting dust somewhere and... Yes it’s for the Wii... That alone made it so the game didn’t make it onto my list. The console has failed in my eyes not because of its limited hardware, but because of the great games released are way too far between. Sadly with this being one of those I guess the Wii owners have to wait another 4-6 months before they get there next big game?
I’m not sure what to say about the four buttons layout, CapCom are the kings when it comes to fighting games so it should be great none the less. I would think the game is best played with an arcade fight stick, but buying one just for this game feels like a big waste. There is just a handful of fighting games for the Wii and the only other good one is Super Smash Bros: Brawl, a game to my knowledge best suited for the GameCube controller anyway. Please CapCom release this game for the PS3/XBOX360!
Dark Void on the other hand didn’t make the list because it was such a huge disappointment. It was originally set for its release in September 2009, but CapCom pushed it into 2010 to give the game a better living condition. Going up against the rest of the games on this list maybe wasn’t what they had in mind. They should have spent that time trying to fix all the bugs and glitches, getting stuck in scenery, disappearing sound during cut scenes, enemies that disappear so you can't kill them and move on to the next part of the game. I guess CapCom will come out with an update to fix it, but releasing a game in this bad shape is just wrong.
Personally I would tell people to avoid this game at all cost, but if someone would like to pick it up, rather wait for it to hit the bargain bin some weeks from now. It’s a shame as I did look forward to this game and it’s so called innovative vertical combat and aerial dogfights.
