Sun 24th Jun 2012 - 9:10pm Category: Blog
As we all know Quake Live and CS 1.6 have been on a descent from the e-sports scene for some time. It has been the most prominent FPS at the major lans as well as having a few online tournaments. The graphic and mechanics that were once iconic have grown outdated and it is time for a new game to rise. Shootmania Storm has already been tested out as the next big FPS and had positive results. Though it is still in alpha the creators intend to develope the game as a spectator e-sport. It's time to usher in a new gaame and bring back the FPS to the competetive scene.
The masterminds behind this new game are the french group Nadeo. Together with Ubisoft they took lessons from the many other FPS games to create this new IP. Development for Shootmania Storm started in 2010 and it is set to be realsed later this year. One key feature Shootmania boasts over it's competition is the open development tools. They hope that SM will be user driven by allowing map creation and custom game modes using intuitive tools.

Many prefessional teams have already taken up Shootmania as their new game. Even players that played in 1 vs. 1 format are getting together with their fellow gamers to form new teams to compete with. Ubisoft hosted it's first tournament at E3 earlier this year, featuring teams like You Tube Money, Easy Peasy, Beyond Gaming, and the always impressive Mecenary OPS. You may not have heard of these teams before but make sure to keep an eye out for you favorite players. You can check out some of the action from the E3 tournament here.
If you are curious as to where your favorite FPS went or fancy yourself a skilled master of milimeter aiming be sure to check out Shootmania Storm. You could be the next big name in First Person Shooters.
