Random Fact #1: Why are you having trouble sleeping?!
Fri 13th Jan 2012 - 5:51pm Category: BlogHave you been experiencing insomnia, lack of good quality sleep, or even falling asleep for a short period of time only to wake up in the middle of the night unable to get back to sleep? If you are a gamer who plays well into the night you might have become acquainted with some of these issues. But why?

Our brains produces a very important chemical that helps it function properly. This chemical is called Melatonin. Melatonin is produced deep in the brain and released in small doses. One major function of melatonin is that it allows the body to know when to sleep and how much sleep to get. How is Melatonin produced? Well, Melatonin is triggered by darkness or decrease of light. It is produced at night when we need to get to sleep. If our brain does not produce enough melatonin you will begin to experience the above mentioned situations.
Gamers as well as late night internet surfers have been effected by lack of Melatonin production. When we stare at the computer screen or t.v screen our eyes are exposed to the light even if it is pitch dark outside. Because of this constant light our brain fails to know when to produce melatonin which in turn makes you unable to sleep or unable to obtain quality sleep at night leaving you exhausted the next morning.
Don’t worry there are ways to help your brain get back to normal and get rid of your sleep deprivations as well as replenish your Melatonin levels! Unfortunately the best way to do this is changing your lifestyle and allowing enough time for your Melatonin levels to readjust. Yes that means going to bed a bit earlier for awhile. Or at least stop game play earlier than usual! If you begin allowing your brain a wind down time from games you will begin to experience better sleep and even feeling more rested in the morning!

Jake SmithA tip that I've always found if you have sleeping problems, if you have an issue with not feeling sleepy, just wake yourself up earlier. Your sleep cycles are based more upon when you actually wake up from sleep, rather than what time you went to bed.

VickyBoth are correct! Jakio, by sleeping late but waking up earlier you may feel really tired at first but then your circadian rhythm (biological clock) will be reset and you will be able to start feeling sleepy at a reasonable time thus allowing you better sleep =P
