SAGE - Live blogFri 1st Jul 2011 - 3:58pm Category: Enemy Territory
I (Sui) will be using this blog to let you guys know what is going on at the event during the weekend. This blog will be updated any time I can access the internet so keep checking back!
Friday 16:00 CET: I arrived at 15:00 CET and went straight to the event where the team had already won all their group stage matches. We are now getting installed in our rooms while JaKaZc, drago, Night and squall are shopping for groceries. We will be heading back to the event later on to spectate tomorrow's opponents. We will be facing the number two of Group C at 16:00 CET on Saturday.
Stay tuned for more, I will be making pictures tonight so hopefully I can upload them when we return.
Friday 21:00 CET: Currently at the event, sitting in the press area while two of our players play poker and the other three are watching the cards being folded and bluffs being made (Frop is chipleader atm). The plan is still to watch some ET games of group C and D which should be starting any time now.
Saturday 01:00 CET: The event atmosphere is great and the players are spectating other teams as they will have to face them tomorrow and want to be prepared. The groups C and D have only started at 23:00 CET so this might go on for a while. Thankfully we can sleep out tomorrow ;) Gallery is uploaded!
Saturday 21:00 CET: So the team started the day by playing Almighty on Goldrush and Radar. They said this game had to be a win or they might not play at all. Thankfully it did turn out to be a win, with a 10 min time on goldrush which they managed to hold and then a fairly smooth play on radar.
Then we went on to face Next Evolution, the All-Belgian team. Same maps were played, Goldrush and radar, but this time Next Evo were able to set a 9 minute time and we did not beat that. On goldrush our squad had a difficult start and allowed Nevo to take the tank quite fast, beating our 10 min time quite comfortably. All in all their group rushes and massive reviving was too much to handle for our guys.
They are now playing g2p in LB round 2, taking the first map (Goldrush) quite easily. Next up is supplydepot, stay tuned!
Wow, what an epic second map! A game that should have never been so close turned out to be a win for us with 10 seconds left on the clock. Close, but still a win. Tomorrow we'll be back at 09:00 to start playing at 10:00 CET. Now we are going to enjoy the atmosphere here and head to bed after that.
Sunday 11:00 CET: The eam woke up at 8:00 CET (even before me!) and went to the event where they started their first match instantly. Going into the game they were confident they would win this, but since we haven't been performing our best nobody wasure. The match was hard but the team managed to claim the win with a hard first map (radar) and relatively easy second map (supplydepot).
We are now waiting for the Anexis vs Next Evolution match to finish so we know who our next opponent is. Stay tuned!
Sunday 18:00 CET: Sorry for the late update but well in the Grand Final we were up against Anexis. We had to win two BO3 matches but after the first map it didn't seem to be going into a second match. However we took the second map and my hopes were rising. After a great start on Supplydepot we had an unlucky mistake and the entire flow was ruined, giving Anexis a fullhold on Supplydepot in the decider. At that point I thought it was pretty much gg, until we were able to hold them at the last stage with only 2 minutes on the clock. It wasn't meant to last unfortunately as Anexis were able to drive the truck out in the last few minutes, taking the win 4-2 and giving us the silver medal.
All in all it was a great event.
