How to become a better player in League of Legends

Sat 30th Jun 2012 - 3:10pm Category: League of Legends

I'm now going to present you all, how to become a better LoL-player in General.

Have you ever thought about your own effort while playing League of Legends? That's the first thing you need to do. Sit down after every single game you play and think about what you did good and bad. Did you do some great things for the team? or did you just stand close to every enemy while you where playing as a AP-carry?

Positioning
This is one of the most important things you need to think about while you're playing League of Legends. If you're a carry, let's say Caitlyn or Ahri for example. You are not allowed to stand right in front of the enemy team! Because you are one of the most important player in your team, and if the enemy team burst you down easily, your team will lose the fights. Your teammates need to protect you, they shall make a huge wall so the enemys can't touch you.

Now, things like this can be a bit hard to think about while you're in the heat of the battle. But, if you do now have some problems with this, there's a great program you can use that's called LoL-Recorder.
LoL-Recorder will record every single game you play and then you can go back and look at the game. Go ahead and do that, you can actually speed up the playback and just look on the mini-map. You need to see where you are when the team really needs you!

But now, if you're playing as a support or a more tanky champion, you need to protect the carries in your team. Do not hesitate, make good decisions  when you shall fight. If you now are the more tanky champion in your team, you're som kind of teamleader. You shall start the fights, you will make whatever you can to make the enemy team attack you instead of your carries that will burst down the enemy team.

I've seen some people who are the more tanky one in the team, refuses to start a fight. Instead, they're standing behind the team, never really thinking about that they're the tank in the team. This is a bit wrong, because his duty is to defend the carries in the team, no matter what.

The Attitude
Now, I've been talking about one of the most  important things. Let's move on to another thing, your attitude. Wooha, here I've seen so many people doing wrong. Do you have a Summoner in your team who don't play that good? Don't start to rage and write bad stuff to her or him.

People do have their bad days in the League, even you and me. Don't write bad stuff, say good stuff instead, try to understand the situation the Summoner is in. Because, do you really think someone will become better in a match if you're trying to hurt their feelings and saying terrible things to them? Of course they won't.

They'll probably play the same or actually even worse. So, be nice to every single Summoner in the game, even to the enemy team  in the /all chat. Also, do not say "GG Easy" when you win. Because that is actually something you can reported for and end up getting banned. It's bad behaviour and awful sportmanship.

Teamplay
Be one with the team is one of the things you need to do if you want to go a long way in the League of Legends. Just because you're fine in your lane or jungle, doesn't mean that you will win. Go ahead and try to help the other Summoners in your team. Run to a lane when the time is right and make a gank sometimes.

Here, I've seen alot of people are doing wrong as well. Some people takes Tryndamere, they dominate their lane pretty good, but when it comes to teamfights, they're thinking it's them against the world. Thats a terrible idea. You need to fight as a team! just because you're a bit fed, doesn't mean that you're able to take down the whole enemy team on your own. Fight with your team, not alone. Playing as a team with good teamplay is the key to success.

Do you want to climb your way up in the Solo-queue?
This is a bit tricky and since I'm not really climbing it myself, it will not be the best tips and tricks here. But, I do know some good things anyways.

Learn to play at least two champions in  each role. Don't go ahead and say "I'll go AD." Because, you shall play the role that the team are in need of. Sure you can ask them if it's okay to play mid, but don't think that you'll get it every single time in SoloQ because you want to play it. Sometimes you actually need to bite the sour apple and play the role the team needs.

Until next time!
