Battlefield 1942

Dignitas proceeds to the OC semi-finals

Reads: 137 | RSS Clicks: 0
After almost a week of waiting, the OC-quarters last round was played.

Last monday we polished our guns to meet Dkh in the OC-quarters. The battle began with 2 rounds of heavy ownage on Battleaxe. Dkh played very well - showing very good timing in their attacks on both rounds resulting in a heartbreaking win by 469-143. Giving them a lead with 326 tickets to the next map - Stalingrad. We now had an almost impossible task on Stalingrad.

Despite the huge lead of Dkh we managed to shape up and won the first Stalingrad round with 168-6 as allies. We now had to win with 164 tickets to proceed to the semi-finals. It all started very bad for us, they had a tank spamming our headquarters, not giving us the chance of capturing it for the first 3 minutes. Meanwhile Dkh managed to capture both their headquarters and the railroads - forcing us into ticketdrop. We had to regroup very fast to be able to win this match.

Composure was the key, we managed not only to capture our headquarters but also the railroads and their headquarters - locking them down in their main base. Tickets started to drop from Dkh. They did recapture their headquarters but they didn't get longer than that. Locked down they could only watch while their tickets dropped.

But....with almost 4 minutes remaining of the round (and match) one player from Dkh switched sides. Accidentally or not, it gave them the chance of seeing our positions. And so it seemed, according to us. One tank was taken out and our headquarters was blanked - before the teamswitch they were totally locked down. However, the round was finished. We were 12 tickets behind.

We filed a formal complaint to Clanbase because of the team switch - leaving them to decide if the result should remain as it was, a replay of the last round or a default win for us.

On Wednesday DvO (head admin of BF at Clanbase) announced that the last round was going to be replayed on Sunday (today).

We spent the rest of the week training Stalingrad. We informed Clanbase about our intention of setting the server to 64 players. Clanbase confirmed that it was acceptable to set the server to 64 players.

So...today we finally played the last round. Everything went as we wanted it to go. In the rush we managed to capture their headquarters and when they recaptured it we captured the railroads. For the rest of the round we held our headquarters and the railroads which resulted in a win with 235-0.

Total score was 546-475 in our favour.

On my behalf this was the most enjoyable victory since i started to play Battlefield 1942 and I'm very proud of my team today.

GG dignitas!

would it had been more or less lame to play on a 32 server and Dkh wouldnt had to spawn at all basically?

Whats even lamer is to switch a player to the opposite side to scout the positions of the opposite team, then disconnect and blame it on a "mistake".

If DkH plays with the fire, they're bound to get burned. Simple as that.

In order to force DkH to spawn, with standard drop of 32players DkH could win by not spawning, with the ALLOWED 64player server DkH would have lost by not spawning, therefor they had no choice but to spawn, DkH still tried to hide far behind their HQ, instead of beeing as agressive as last time. GG DkH thanks for a good match.

Before this goes out of hand... Yes Jagged posted under false nick since we told everyone in legacy to stay out of this mess. Aparently the "itch" got to bad for him and he did something wrong. It won´t happen again. Atleast not under false nick ;) We will se you in the semi for the best match this season :)

Oh and noac, chill man. If you are a member of dignitas try being a bit more...nice? :)

i know, i know! why won't we all just sit down, think a sec, and notice what others have done already. it's not only pointless to go on with this, but it gets old as well...

we won fair, dkh has said already, that they're fine with this. so are we. so should all others be. mmmmkay?

Gil, look upon it this way:

Dignitas was positive they had the victory in their grasp on 4th round on stalingrad. All of a sudden, one of their players switch sides. People snap, people starts to lose their focus , some extremely suspicious attacks from DkH's side take place a little while after one of their players had a good look upon Dignitas tactical map. All this combined, dont u think it's worth 12 lousy tickets? I do. And it's my sincere belief that Dignitas would of won the game if the DkH player wouldn't have switched side.

Now for the 64 player server. I can totally understand why the d´ players wanted to force DkH players to spawn, cuz there aint a point of replaying a map if the other team doesnt even have to spawn in order to win, is it?It must blow especially much if u consider that d´ probably (atleast in my opinion) would have won the game if this side-switching wouldn't have occured. Now, dont u think its the most fair thing to do to ATLEAST force DkH to spawn on that map so Dignitas could have a shot at the victory they were so close to achieve before Black switched side? Well, suck me sideways, but i think a 64 slot server was the best option to go with in a situation like this. Because we all know that DkH is a team that would certainly not spawn if they knew they would win by doing so.
