The first Battlefield title was Battlefield 1942, which was released in 2002, but the spiritual predecessor to the Battlefield series was Codename Eagle, which was released in 1999 and developed by Refraction Games, who then merged with EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and eventually developed Battlefield 1942. 2. Including expansions and booster packs, there are at least 15 Battlefield titles. If you count Battlefield Online, which is currently in closed beta testing, then it's 16. If you also count the compilation packs that merge the main game and the expansions together (Battlefield 1942: Deluxe Edition, Battlefield 1942: World War II Anthology, Battlefield 1942: The Complete Collection, Battlefield 2: Deluxe Edition, and Battlefield 2: Booster Pack Collection), then you have at least 21 different Battlefield titles; 22 if you like to count Codename Eagle as well, but that probably doesn't count. 3.
